Our Story
Who We Are
Our Passions & Partnerships
We are wildly passionate about ensuring people live in authentic community, have a rich life of devotion to Jesus, and share in God's mission to take responsibility for His Kingdom through discipleship of others and to Jesus.
Because of that, everything at our church is geared to help people live in community through journeying together, have a life of devotion through beholding Jesus, and take responsibility for the Kingdom of God through spreading hope.
We are a church plant being sent from and supported by Southwest Bible Church. In addition, we are in partnership with a church collective called the Association of Hill Country Churches that is committed to reaching every man, woman, and child in Greater Austin with the life-changing reality of Jesus Christ.
Mission · Vision · Values
Our Mission
We exist to show people the good life is found in discipleship to Jesus together in community.
Our Vision
100 small groups in 5 years and 3 churches in 15 years.
Journey Together
John 15:12; Acts 2:42; Gal. 6:2; Heb. 10:24-25
We place a high emphasis on vulnerability and being known, walking alongside one another in authentic community.
Behold Jesus
Matt. 13:44-46; John 15:5; Col. 1:28, 2:6; Matt. 6:6
We become what we behold. We fix our eyes on Jesus through His Word, prayer, and worship together.
Spread Hope
Luke 6:40; Matt. 28:18-20; 2 Tim. 2:2; John 17:18
God sends us into the world for the same purpose Jesus was sent — to seek and save the lost through discipleship.
Doctrinal Foundation
What We Believe
Though "doctrine" is often derided as intolerant and narrow-minded, this is simply our best attempt to arrange and describe what we believe to be the teaching of the Bible. In addition to this statement of faith, we find ourselves in general agreement with historic confessions like The Apostles' Creed.
*Strict agreement with these doctrines is not required for covenant partnership at BTX Bible Church; however, we affirm these beliefs as taught in Scripture and have established them as the official positions of our church.
Our expanded doctrinal statement and position papers are available upon request. Please contact us and we would be glad to share them with you.
About the Name
What is a Bible Church?
Denomination
A Bible Church is usually non-denominational, although any church can have ‘bible church’ in their name.
Church Governance
Because they are non-denominational they are locally governed as opposed to governed by a larger denominational entity. They are usually governed by a plurality of elders (a team of multiple elders, also known as elder-led) as opposed to single elder/lead pastor-led churches (Acts 14:23, Titus 1:5, Acts 20:17, Philippians 1:1, Acts 21:18, 1 Peter 5:1–2).
Teaching Style
Another common distinction in a Bible Church is its commitment to expository teaching (verse by verse teaching through books of the bible) with contextually accurate and culturally relevant application of the Scripture to people’s lives. Bible Churches hold the Word of God as the ultimate and inerrant authority of our lives and, therefore, highly value quality, accurate, and educated bible teaching so the Word of God can be accurately followed (2 Timothy 3:16–17, 2 Peter 1:20–21, Isaiah 40:8, Hebrews 4:12, 2 Timothy 4:1–2, 1 Timothy 4:13, Titus 1:9, Colossians 3:16).
Theology
Because any church can be a Bible Church, many of the secondary theological issues can vary among Bible Churches. As a helpful reference, BTX Bible Church’s theological views can be found in our What We Believe section of the website, our expanded doctrinal statement (available upon request), and are aligned with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 (although we are not officially affiliated with the SBC).
"A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone when he is fully trained will be like his teacher."
— Luke 6:40
